Wake Me Up

"B-4 U go..." this layout was a snap to make, I simply built up from the pre-embellished looking Creative Memories background with some papers I tore out of both the large and mini Amy Tangerine Day books. The doily I snuck up top was looking a bit lonely so I added some flower rub-ons. My hidden journalling will probably STAY hidden, LOL.

Paper Wishes

The latest edition of the Paper Wishes catalog came today and included a similar version of this card made by LeNae Gehrig. As soon as I saw it I had to dig into my small scrap drawer for a few coordinating pieces. The red cardstock base had been used at one time for something I cut out on the cricut machine. Instead of cutting that part off, I used the negative space to my advantage and embellished the parentheses with a heart cut from the piece of (very old) wedding sentiments patterned paper.
Also arriving in the mail was the latest Creating Keepsakes magazine with this great idea for using washi tape to make flowers. So easy! Simply start with a scrap of paper and fold the decorative tape in approximate quarter inch back and forth,  continueing around the perimeter. Finish with a bling,  button, brad or just another piece of paper! I used a few punched circles found in the bottom of the punch box to adhere my tape onto.  You could use border stickers or strips, punched border strips, fabric or ribbons, too. Just put a glue dot in the middle of your bottom layer and go to town around and around :-)

This card is dedicated to my cousin Martha who plans to be married this summer. May everyday of your marriage be just as pleasant as when you first started dating Roberto :-) Congrats!

Flower Power!

The last two days have found my oldest daughter and I drawing creative inspiration from the pages of magazines!

We started yesterday with this fun layout based on Januarys JCPenneys advertisement. You may remember I used this same circular for a page earlier this year ("Ever heard of Induction by Craft?")
It was not only a great challenge to try to duplicate the look and colors of the Penneys ad, but I think there was a little teaching moment between my helper and I as well. She helped me to identify the prominent colors, and I helped her to adhere the pieces we'd chosen.

OK. The truth is I didn't allow her to glue anything down herself... call me selfish but I enjoy touching the paper too much to share! She did help me thread the rickrack up top, using my handy dandy dental floss threader (aka: our very special tool).

This morning we made a page for a picture of her sister using a Nordstroms photo. But its not embellished yet... hence it is not posted here. ;-)

What inspires you when you are looking to make something? I'd love to have you post a comment. It might even be worth a freebie!

happy crafting!

Easter...to be continued

It recently occurred to me that the most holiday layout attention in my albums is given to Easter. I set a goal of a more elegant look to this years pages, inspired by faithabigaildesigns.
Please excuse my laziness in not wanting to take the two seconds to pull the pages from thier protectors before photographing! And pop by here again to check this post as I add my pictures. I was able to get them all done thanks to my supportive man who watched my oldest daughter while I indulged in some semi-me time (I had the baby strapped on lol).

Coming Up Roses

Hmmm... I'm noticing a theme to my posts lately... I seem to "love" everything I put up here! And this layout is no exception: I love how this page turned out! Thank you, to Christina from the library group, for gifting our house of crafters some new supplies! The blue tags on the bottome were among the goodies :-) So was a wonderful flower punch that I used to create these little vellum cuties that run alongside the bakers twine looped through the tag holes. My daughter loves getting out in the garden, and it is much more fun for me to take pictures of her and create scrapbook pages about weed pulling than to actually help her clean up the flower beds :-)
Happy Spring!

PeaPost

This was a very organic layout to build. I tried a new technique of dry stamping into tacky paint. Am pleased enough by the result to want to try again!
I was meeting a Scrapbusters Challenge with the promts of: One or more photos, die cuts, paint or ink, stamping, butterflys, and chevron. I used both the inside and the surrounding sticker of a bracket frame to put the focus on my two "lil love bugs."
